Cranes Revisited

Sometimes I get an idea in my head and reason doesn't seem to fit in ... the sky is a strange gray (remnants of Fay and her continuous rainy bands - she pretty much passed us by with only a day of high winds and rain; we've actually had more rain in the days since she traveled north and expect even more throughout the weekend, but we've been really lucky) and it's a bit gusty outside, but I just HAD to try to take photo's of the cranes earrings that are done. I didn't get a single decent shot of the first set that I took, so uber-spouse tried to convince me to wait until morning when the light would be ideal ... stubborn is as stubborn does ... and sometimes it pays off.

Here's a shot of the black and white pair:

and a close-up of one:

and a close-up of one from the light blue pair:

I have about 18 fishhooks left, so can make 9 more pair before I'll need more materials. I also have it in my head to start a canvas covered in cranes ... one of these days.

Dont forget about the Pink Artist Drawing :

As of August 23rd, $1,557.85 has already been raised! Woohooooo!!
AND there's still time for you to participate, too!

Those are lovely earrings (love the blue ones)! I don't think I've ever seen them made into earrings before:) I learned how to make them when I was eleven and the author of "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes" came to our class to read the book and teach us how to fold them. She took ours to Japan to put on the Sadako statue in Hiroshima. Paper cranes hold a special place in my heart:)

Hey! Thanks for stopping by. I love your cranes! Are they made from polymer? I can't decide which I like better, the white or blue ones.

I hope you don't mind that I'm copying the pink artists info to post on my blog.

Thanks,
Karla

How wonderful about the money raised. I have a patch on Love Squared. I've been so busy around here that I'm just coming up for air. I love the crane!

These turned out just wonderful!! I do believe that th blue ones are my favorite!! It's funny...though the earrings are great...I actually see this design, done a bit bigger, in a "sun catcher" kind of way.....They would be beautiful hanging in a window!!
In Japanese, we say "otsusukarasamadeshita"...which basically means...'thank you for working so hard on this, you did a good job' (loose translation!!)

I love how you photographed your crane earrings. When I was in NC, we went to an outdoor artist fair. One Asian guy had a booth filled with Origami cranes hanging in his tent. I thought of you!

I just posted information about the PITT pens and how you can order them from Dick Blick. Go PITT!
